From these, Tuppence becomes convinced that Aunt Ada has been murdered. Ada says her own life and that of Mrs Lancaster is in danger. It is a lot more explicit than in the original. Tuppence finds a note from Aunt Ada behind the painting. Tommy is away so Tuppence clears up Aunt Ada's things after her death.But here besides mentioning the fireplace, and milk, she also offers polo mints which will become significant later. The encounter with Mrs Lancaster takes place much as in the original.Like in the original, roses are a theme here. The discussion between Tommy and Ada is limited to a discussion about a crossword clue: 'White House flowers away from the African plain.' (meaning Roosevelt minus Veldt yielding rose).

Like in the original Aunt Ada is hostile to Tuppence.

The plot originally featured Tommy and Tuppence Beresford as detectives in their own right but for the episode the story was altered by sending Tommy away on military intelligence business abroad for the first part and writing Miss Marple in.

I have read the book and I think I remember saying to myself that the book was a tad better than the film. I think the one Miss Marple adaptation with Hickson that I think is 'okay' but still good (one that I don't watch as much even though I would most definitely watch it) is They Do It With Mirrors. All the Miss Marple films with Joan Hickson are all good but there are certain ones that stand out from the bunch, certain ones that are more memorable and in my book are really, REALLY good (top-notch) such as A Murder Is Announced, The Body In The Library, Nemesis, At Bertram's Hotel, and Sleeping Murder. Other actresses who played her has paled in comparison and not only that but the BBC productions of the novels are exactly in the spirit of Agatha Christie's books and though there are certain scenes that are changed and omitted from what Christie originally wrote, the changes are not a travesty as the newer ones that Geraldine McEwan or Julie McKenzie has done. Joan Hickson is the best and the definitive Miss Marple in my book.
